Friday November 18, 2011

WOW, Its hard to belive I've missed two days blogging!  Somehow time escapes me!

I am SO very thankful for Motherhood.... my life is so full of love!  always a hug and always a kiss... I have some very special children and I thank God for them!

I am so thankful for modern technology/medicine.  For without it, I wouldnt be a mother today!  Thank you God!

Today is Friday and the start of our Thanksgiving vacation... which means its that much closer to Christmas!   I just LOVE this time of year.  I am putting together a cookie exchange for the Girl Scout Troop I help to run, so I will be doing cards/invitations and will post them when they are complete!

tonight is an adult night of cards... even though the kids will be with us (they've been threatened they must behave!! :)

GIFT IDEA: I have a GREAT craft idea Im going to make a cake stand from an old china plate and the bottom of an urn.  I will post pics when its complete but it will be so cute!  you can also make cupcake plate, from a candle stick and a saucer... so adorable!

FAMILY FUN ACTIVITY: we have next to no money this Christmas so I am trying to come up with some fun inexpensive to free activities to do with the kiddos.  I took from another site, the idea of an advent chain.  I came up with 24 Christmasy things to do... go pick out our Christmas tree.... decorate our Christmas tree... make gifts for teachers... bake cookies.... watch a holiday movie... (you get the idea) and I printed these 24 activites on red paper.  then on the day after Thanksgiving, when we start to decorate our home for Christmas, we can do this craft together... putting together the chain.  The kids will love it, you could alternate the colors based on the number of kids, so that they can each take a loop off... great idea, I will now do mine red an white, so they can each remove a loop.

Tuesday November 15, 2011

Today is Tuesday Noveber 15th and I am so Thanful for Friends.  Friendships seem to be the stitching in life. They usually know just what to say and when to say it!  I LOVE my friends!!

It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about Lunch?" ~Winnie the Pooh

I just KNOW, I cant be the only one with days like this! One child gets home from school and all is going smoothly... the next child walks in and oh my... you'd think that we just had a tornato! Bickering and arguing about the most rediculous things! It makes the night go by so darn slow and not very fun at all. Homework then takes longer and no quality family time gets spent together.  I really try to prepare ahead of time for days like this. such as snacks ready, desks clear and ready to dive into homework! They get a break between school and homework, so Im not sure what is going wrong! Feedback would be SO helpful! :o)

On the lighter side of things. This is the last week of school until Thanksgiving break.  I just love it when we dont have school and a very specific structure to follow.  The kids and I seem to be happier during these times, much less stress!

I am trying to plan some game nights and movie nights to help us celebrate this holiday season. I am thinking that "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" is tops on the list, I think "Home for the Holidays" is fitting and my little one loves to curl up and watch a drama type shows with me.  I will of course let them pick their own movie and we can make popcorn and hot cocoa.  Now, I plan these great family times together, however there seems to always be a hiccup in it.  Someone got someones seat first, someone is blocking the TV, chewing too loud, playing with an animal or two.... anyways you get the picture and one parent ends up getting fed up and WHAM... there went the wonderfully planned, dreamed ...quality family time.  I know, I can't be the only one who has episodes like this.  How do you do your family time? how do you prepare for melt downs?

November 14, 2011

Its already the middle of November, where is the time going?  Today I am thankful for my husband, for the love he gives and for how hard he works to provide for us.

A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the difference.

We are now at the start of the Holiday season. This is always my very favorite time of the year. I love the giving that everyone is doing. This year is a very hard one for me because I LOVE LOVE LOVE to give. I try to provide very thoughtful gifts and always on a budget. However this year both my husband and myself are out of work.  Therefore the giving is very minimal if it will exist at all.  So Im trying to come up with some very simple and yet meaningful gifts I can give and things I can do that will be memoriable for all and yet cost nearly nothing.

I always have the kids make a list of things they would like to get the special people in their lives. This year we will be making the majority of our gifts, so they are on a mission to come up with ideas of things we can make. I've already begun on their gifts and I am super excited to share them when they are finished.  I am also coming up with memoriable things that we can do that leads up to Christmas.  This year we are focusing on Service and bringing Christ into our home.

I was visiting Mandis' ideas over at www.life.yourway.net and she has some great ideas for Christmas.  I am surely going to use the advent chain. This is wonderful!! You can cusomize it (along with your calander so it doesnt intrude on busy nights, like our Tuesdays are Girl/Boy Scouts!) I will be having the kids make this with me on Thanksgiving eve!

I LOVE photography and am looking forward to taking our family Christmas pictures.  I'd love to help anyone out who is in our area, just drop me a note!
